Adem SAGIR is a Professor in the Sociology Department of Karabuk University, Turkey, where he has been working since 2021. He received a B.S. in Sociology (2003) and an M.S. in Sociology (2006) from Sakarya University, Türkiye, where he worked as a research assistant from 2006 to 2010. He received his Ph.D. in Sociology from Sakarya University in 2010. His research interests largely include culture and identity, focusing more on death and dying. Sağır has a book called "Sociology of Death," considered the first and only pioneering work in the field. Sağır also has three other books that contribute to the field of the sociology of death: "Gassal," "My Wife, Me and Death," and "Chips Are Now in Our Bodies." His post-doctoral project is on "religious-spiritual counseling in USA and Turkey" with Bryan S. Turner. Sağır, who had to leave his studies in the United States unfinished due to the coup in Turkey (July 15), conducts field studies with different approaches to death and dying, identity, and culture.
