Özet
In this study, the effects of soluble (Co) and non-soluble (Cr) alloying elements in NiAl matrix on the microstructural, physical and mechanical properties as well as high temperature oxidation resistance of NiAl intermetallic compounds were investigated. NiAl, NiAl-28 at% Co and NiAl-28 at% Cr compounds were arc melted under Ar atmosphere using water cooled copper mold. The density, hardness, microstructure, fracture behavior and high temperature oxidation resistance at 1000 o C of the compounds were determined using Archimedes’ principle, microhardness devices, polarized light microscope, scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffractometer (XRD), energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDX) and high temperature furnace, respectively. Co addition to NiAl resulted in single phase structure, while Cr addition resulted in NiAl-Cr eutectic structure. Both of the alloying elements increased the density …
