Özet
Silicon dioxide films successfully coated on type 304 stainless steel substrates by sol-gel method. In this study, SiO2 sols were prepared using tetraethylorthosilicate (TEOS) as a source of SiO2. The surfaces of the specimens were coated by dipping method. After coatings, the specimens were heat treated for dehydration and densification. Structural and chemical characterizations of the specimens were carried out by using x-ray diffraction method (XRD), scanning transmission electron microscope (SEM) and energy dispersive spectrum (EDX). It was found that coated films have amorphous structure that the average thickness of the films is between 0.74-0.76 μm, and that cracks were observed in some regions on the films.
